Madgett Law, LLC is a Minneapolis law firm serving individuals and businesses throughout Minnesota. It is small on purpose. The lawyer you speak with at the outset is the lawyer who handles your matter — there is no team you get handed off to after the first meeting.
Much of our work sits where an individual meets an institution: a credit report that will not get corrected, a bank or a business that has treated someone unfairly, a dispute with a company that has more lawyers than you do. We also advise businesses and investors on litigation, transactions, distressed assets, and the planning that keeps disputes from happening in the first place.
What You Can Expect
Direct access to your attorney. You will not spend your engagement talking to someone who has not read your file. Questions go to the lawyer working on the matter.
A straight answer about your case. Including when the answer is that a claim is weak, that the cost is out of proportion to what can be recovered, or that you do not need a lawyer at all. We would rather tell you that at the beginning than bill you to find out.
Clarity about fees. How the work is billed, what drives the cost, and what the realistic range is, discussed before the work starts and revisited when something changes. Fee arrangements vary by matter type — hourly, flat, and contingent work all have a place — and we will explain which one fits and why.
Preparation, not volume. The firm invests heavily in its own systems — document handling, deadline control, research verification — so that time goes into thinking about your case rather than into administration. We write publicly about how we build those systems in the Practice Lab.
Communication you do not have to chase. You will be told when something happens in your matter, what it means, and what comes next. If you call with a question, you will get a response.

The Firm
Madgett Law, LLC was founded by David J.S. Madgett, who is licensed to practice law in Minnesota. He is supported by the firm's paralegal, Jessie Frost. Our office is in the IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis, and we work with clients across the state.
